Founded by Ross and Mario Giancola as G&G Welding in the early 1990s, G&G grew to become a leading mining industry service provider. Following the purchase of the business by Richard and June Ladny in 2002, the business was renamed as G&G Mining Fabrication, and during the following years relocated to purpose-built premises in Hazelmere. During the Ladny ownership, the business grew considerably, with increased staff levels and development of new products until the mining industry downturn of the mid-2010s.
In 2014 G&G was acquired by SSAB - a Nordic and US-based steelmaker and the manufacturer of specialist steels including Hardox wear plate - as part of a global downstream Services strategy. In 2015 G&G became a 100% owned subsidiary of SSAB, who invested in the future of the business and enabled the continued support of G&G's customer base.
Whilst owned by the SSAB business, G&G operates independently of the SSAB Australia steel sales business – with G&G focused on engineering and manufactured products for sale directly to mining operations and their key suppliers, and SSAB Australia operating as the supplier of specialist steels in full plate form to the manufacturing industry.
After Richard Ladny’s retirement in 2016, the new management team are committed to keeping the same spirit and culture of G&G whilst continuing to develop exciting new products and services to help our customers operate more efficiently, safely and productively than ever before. Building on G&G’s long industry history in engineering design, manufacturing, refurbishment, and by harnessing SSAB’s strengths in materials we are confident we can offer the market superior products and services to meet today’s production and cost of ownership challenges.
